Humane medicine - compassion with competent care
Compassion is a core value of all healthcare practice and needs to be re-affirmed in training and practice. There is a duty to pay special attention to deprived groups: the poor, the mentally ill, the disabled and the elderly.
Creativity is another core value that needs to be encouraged is creativity in healthcare practice and planning and using the arts to make the care of the sick more humane.
